Stephen Clark

A musical bio

Music has been a constant and vital part of Stephen Clark’s life.  Stephen was the drum major of his high school marching band and played virtually every instrument in the band.  He attended the University of Northern Colorado with the intention of becoming a band teacher, partly supporting himself in school by playing baritone sax in a professional big band.

Instead of music, Stephen’s career diverted to journalism but music was never far behind.  He took up guitar, singing and songwriting after college. In the mid 1990’s he took his music public on the same San Diego coffee house singing/songwriting circuit that spawned Jewell Kilcher.  Stephen was named San Diego’s Male Entertainer of the Year by the California Country Music Association in 1995.  He has opened for such notable country acts as Willie Nelson, Chris LeDoux, Tracy Byrd and Lari White and jammed with BB King, The Nelsons and the Bacon Brothers.

Stephen has worked as a national correspondent for CBS News, anchored the evening news on CBS in New York and is now a reporter/anchor for WXYZ TV Detroit.

The Wrenfields wish to thank Stephen and WXYZ Channel 7 for their support!
